O-R-E-O

Here are a few things you have to know to fully grasp how exciting this is. 1) My husband is allergic to cats. 2) Because of this, I have never pushed for us to have a cat, which is why we have a dog. 3) My husband is quite allergic to cats. 4) My HUSBAND decided we needed to get a cat!

That's right! It was HIS idea. Absolutely NO prompting from me or anything. All. on. his. own. Several years ago we were told about a product you can put on a cat that will help with the allergens. Our youngest LOVES cats (animals in general, actually) and while at the farmer's market we saw there were kittens and cats. We see them every week and every week Rebekah, especially, goes nuts. So, David thought it would be fun to add to the birthday weekend by getting a kitten! I agreed!!!!

On Saturday we got to the farmer's market early (the whole week I was praying the cat people would be there!) so we could pick out and take our kitten home and get her acclimated to the house before the party that afternoon. We found the ladies (YEAH! Thank you, Jesus!) and told them our story. This is where it gets ridiculous complicated. You would have thought we were adopting a child and not a kitten. It was so insane. The questions they asked ranged from "do you live on a busy street" to "do we have permission to do a home inspection?" Uhhhhh...We also learned we could not take the cat home right then. WHAAAAAAAT????? We were not happy, but they agreed they would bring the cat to us that afternoon. I was praying it would be before the party. It was not. Heh. Heh.

We got home, unpacked all the cat stuff we had already purchased (David himself picked it all out, thankyouverymuch!) and narrowed our nine name suggestions to 1! We let Bekah pick the name from the suggestions and she picked...Zazzles! But, this upset Cora, who really wanted Oreo, and since Bekah has no idea, or opinion on the matter, and Ben could care less we went with Oreo.

The lady arrived at our house in the middle of the party...We had over 20 people here at the time and we were opening presents! To say it was chaos is putting it mildly! I do believe the lady was about to take the kitten back with her. We struggled through, assured her all would be fine, she came into our house to say goodbye to the kitten (seriously???) and finally left.

Oreo has done a great job adjusting! It took her about 24 hrs to eat and use the litter box. She stayed most of the first day under the couch, but as of Tuesday she has been scurrying around the house and playing with the kids, even letting them hold her!

I'm so glad we have her. I have GREATLY enjoyed having a cat again. Even David is loving her, though he'll deny it to his dying breath! HA! She is so much fun, and Molly has adjusted quite well too. Oh, and I did get a call from the shelter lady asking how everything was. She was shocked we weren't still keeping Oreo locked away in our room and that she had already met the dog. Really???? Sorry, this little lady needs to get used to this home sooner rather than later!
