Birthday Girl!

Image
Our Cora Ann is 6 today! I keep trying to bring up some memory of my 6th birthday, and I am failing! I know we were in Africa, and so having a birthday in January is GREAT! You're guaranteed a nice, hot birthday!!! But, I don't have any other memory. I'll have to ask my mom...I digress... We have a lot of stuff going on this weekend that is all birthday-related. I have already taken her to see her first movie, in a movie theater, "Cinderella." She LOVED it and was in such awe of the whole experience! Today she'll be having a "My Little Pony," specifically Rainbow Dash party with her friends & cousins (who are also very much her friends!)--I'll do a post on that next week--and then Saturday we're having cupcakes with her grandparents, aunts/uncles and cousins! It'll be a great weekend with lots of celebrating. Also on Saturday Cora will get to help celebrate her cousin's 5th birthday! They are exactly 1 year and 1 day apart! My s

How to Help

I mentioned last week that our youngest had been in the hospital in February, and then again last week, only last week was out-patient. When our son was 4 months, and then 5 months, he was admitted to the hospital for bronchiolitis and RSV. I don't ever want to have to be in the hospital again with my children, but since I can't control much that happens in life it's a possibility. Also, while there this last time I was thinking about how others can help the family while someone is in the hospital. These are a few of the things I came up with. You might think of other things (and if so, please add them to the comments!). Here's what I came up with for ways to help a family if one of their kids is in the hospital. 1. Pray for them. I know this might seem like a cop-out, or something you only do "when nothing else can be done." Let me tell you, prayer changes things. Pray for strength as the parents see their child hooked up to machines or IV. Pray the child

Who Doesn't Love Chocolate?

Something I will be posting about from time to time is my chocolate business. I sell chocolate products for Dove Chocolate Discoveries. You can visit my website here . I love this company and all it has to offer. It has been a great venture for me and a great help to our family! I stay at home with the kids and this has provided me the chance to get out of the house every now and then without the kids! Also, it is providing us with extra money. I love my "job" and love selling chocolate! I mean, really, who doesn't love chocolate???

Does He ALWAYS Hear?

Our youngest daughter aspirated a small piece of almond in early January. After arguing with the doctor for 4 weeks, we were finally sent to a pulmonologist who decided right away that, yes, she had aspirated a foreign object, and we found ourselves downtown at the large children's hospital that evening where Bekah underwent emergency surgery to have it removed. It was horribly scary and there were times when I just couldn't understand why we were in this situation. I was frustrated that I hadn't been listened to, and was upset that my daughter was lying in front of me with a ventilator tube down her throat. Well, all went well, and we were barely in the hospital 24 hrs. However, due to the severe trauma, swelling and overall yuckiness in her left lung, the ENT (ears, nose, throat) surgeon thought it best to let her lung heal for a month, and then go back in to be sure everything was healed as it should be. We did that yesterday. Everything went perfectly, her lungs are tot

Who are We?

I want to introduce you to myself and my family! We're a crazy bunch of people, who love each other fiercely. The couple who started it all: My husband, David, and I, have been married 9 years (just celebrated in Jan!). We met online, back when it was just becoming acceptable to do so and life has been an adventure ever since! We live in Ohio, and he is a pastor of a small urban church. This is our 2nd church, and we've been here now almost 4 1/2 years! We love to go out to eat (ok, we go out to eat TOO much!), but we especially love to try new places that are ethnic, or off the beaten path. Basically, if it's not a chain restaurant we're interested! We especially love middle eastern food, specifically from Turkey! My husband grew up in WV, born and raised, and has just recently graduated with his Doctorate of Ministry!!! I grew up as a missionary kid in the savannas and jungles of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa (was called Zaire when I was growing up).

What is it all about?

I used to blog a lot. My first blog was "The Pondering Pastor's Wife" located here , and then I moved it over to here . I have not been writing for almost a year now. Life got a bit crazy after baby #3 came along and I just needed to take some time to collect my thoughts and decide if this is something I wanted to spend time doing. After almost a year, I have decided that YES! I miss it. In my time off I have wanted this blog to be a bit more focused and not all over the place, or only about our kids. I mean, I love to write about my kids, and their grandparents love to READ about them, but the rest of the world probably doesn't care too much! So, I've been thinking more about what I want in this blog--a place to share my thoughts concerning things that are important to me and may be important to you, too. I chose the title "One Day" very specifically. In all the craziness that is life I am reminded of the verse in Matthew 6:34, "Therefore do no
