LAAAAAAADIES and GENTLEMEEEEEENNNN!

Yep, we went to the circus last week! At the beginning of the summer we made a list of some bigger things to do with the kids this summer so we weren't found stuck in the house all summer! Two years ago we went to this circus. Cora was 4, Ben was barely 2 and Bekah wasn't quite 2 months! We remember it being WET (had been raining), HUMID and HOT! But, we still had fun! We figured with everyone 2 yrs older it might go better this time, and it did! YEAH! We had a good time. Now, this isn't the big Wringling Bros but is a much smaller, 1-ring circus. There are still tigers, and elephant, camels, trapeze act, etc.

Last time we went there were all sorts of animal rides for the kids--elephant, camel and pony. We knew the kids would want to do at least one of these (and seriously, just 1, because it's highway robbery what they charge to sit on an animal for 2 minutes...) so we went early so we'd have time for that and also get a good seat! HA! Apparently, this circus company has scaled down what they do because there were elephant rides (for $10 a kid!!!!!) or camel rides ($7, better, but not great). We were not going to do the elephant so let the kids to the camel ride. Nothing was really up and ready so instead of getting ice cream AFTER the circus we went before.

Any who...we got back to the circus and paid the price for a camel ride with "Humpty Dumpty." Ben freaked out and refused to do it and cried like we were selling him to the circus or something. Sigh...the girls had fun though!

Then, we let them go bounce on the bouncy house thing. Again...Ben FREAKED out and cried his eyes out, but the girls had fun participating! Not sure what his deal was on Friday...

We paid and extra $3 per person to get ring-side seats. Money well-spent. We sat RIGHT at the ring and it was great for the kids. They could see everything, weren't constrained to seats but had more room to walk around. Cora and Ben were in AWE of the different acts from the trapeze to the juggler. They both asked if they could do these things when they were older? They promised to practice every day! We also had to work over-time to keep Rebekah from climbing over the rail to go pet the "kitties!" Yep...she wanted to pet the tigers. And, we truly believe she would have had David not had a vice grip on her! We discovered the kids still love popcorn and lemonade but refused to eat the funnel cake. Where have we gone wrong as parents?

This is David keeping Bekah from climbing over the edge to get to the tigers...

Cora mesmerized by the trapeze people

We were still hot and sticky but a good time was had by all! One day we'll make it to the big 3-ring circus, but for now this is good for the kids!
