Long Time, No Write

I have been feeling the itch to start writing again. I see it's been a good, long time since I last wrote. Our lives have changed and so much has happened it's hard to fully put it all into a post that won't take you hours to read! I think I'll just tell you the highlights for now! *In January we finished packing for our move to a new state, city, church, everything! *February 22 was move day, and we traveled to the neighboring state. My mom, the kids and I were in our van, David and the animals were in my parents' car, and my dad drove the Uhaul with most of our earthly possessions, pulling our "baby" car behind! It was a long day, but we got to our new home and were greeted by lots of folks from our new church. The job of unloading 4 vehicles of stuff was done quite quickly, and I will be forever grateful for those people! *March saw us getting even more settled in, figuring out where to put everything, finding our way around town, getting involved...

The Winds of Change

I have been absent for a reason. We've had a lot going on. I've been afraid that if I blogged I would spill the beans and I couldn't do that until now. We have BIG news in our family!!!! We are moving!!!!! This is something that has been "brewing" now for a little over a year. We felt God was telling us it was time to move from our current ministry, but we had no idea when, or where, or doing what. And so, we waited. David was bombarded with requests from churches if he'd be interested in learning more about them. The process was long, there were MANY ups and downs. There has been a lot of uncertainty. We've been on our knees a LOT as we sought the Lord in what he wanted us to do. In the late summer/early fall David met with a church in Pennsylvania. We prayed and prayed some more. The more David talked with them and the few times we met with them in person the more we felt the Lord saying, "this is the place I have for you." Last weekend we ...

A Line Drawn in the Sand

I'm not sure you can read much online or turn on the news and not see something about whether or not gay marriage is right, should be legal, where churches should stand on this, etc. I have remained silent on this issue because I know where I stand. I don't feel the need to put it out there on my Facebook wall or anything like that. However, due to a conversation I had recently I wanted to put some thoughts down. The question was can a church say to one part of their congregation it's OK to support gay marriage, let them do their thing, and then have another group along side NOT supporting it? Can they worship in harmony, can they do church together? Is it OK to say to the one group, "you go ahead and believe that, be blessed by us, but we're going to go a different direction." Can you do this? I've been thinking about it a lot since that conversation. And I think the answer is no. I thought it at the beginning and after thinking on it longer I still t...

In Christ Alone, My Solid Rock

Image
I love the song "In Christ Alone/Solid Rock." It's 2 songs put beautifully together. It's so powerful. The words speak mightily of Christ's love for us. I was singing this song with a group of women on Wednesday at a Bible study I attend on (more on that in another post). This has been our theme song for the year. Usually, as we sing I think of all that Christ has done for me personally. I think of his power and what it is for me. However, this time I couldn't help but think of my brothers and sisters in Christ who are currently going through horrendous atrocities because they claim the name of Christ. I was moved to tears. The song ends with this, "No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man can ever pluck me from His hand! 'Til He returns or calls me home, here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand!" Wow. Can I get an "amen!"? We have all been hearing of the horrible things happening to Christians in China and most recently in the Mi...
