More Birthday Fun!

Image
Here are some other photos of Bekah and Ben on their respective birthdays! For Bekah we went out for supper and got ice cream, joined by my grandma. The kids' party was on Ben's actual birthday so we didn't do anything really, although as I mentioned yesterday he got to go out for breakfast with his grandparents!

Kittens, Batman and Baseball

We are coming down from a very, very, very busy weekend. Do you ever have weekends where it seems every single day (and there are only 3 of them!) is jam-packed? None of the things are bad, they're all meant for fun and enjoyment, but you end your weekend tired and worn out. That was this weekend. Friday was pretty low-key with swim lessons and getting some prep stuff done for the kids' birthday party. Saturday was ca-RA-zy. We had decided to get a kitten (I'll do a post on that later), so we got up early and went to our semi-local farmer's market and got our kitten, which was delivered in the middle of the party. ANYWAY! After that, David took the girls to a daddy-daughter breakfast sponsored by Chick-fil-a. They had a good time doing that! All dressed up for breakfast! After they left, my MIL and her husband arrived and took Ben out for his birthday. It was 10 a.m. and I found myself alone. I vacuumed then ate breakfast and drank hot chocolate, all without b...

Big Boy Who is FOUR!

Image
Benjamin Monroe is 4 years old today! I don't usually do a blog on Saturday, but I can't NOT write a blog about my little boy who is getting to be so big! He is our blond-haired, blue-eyed wonder boy! He reminds me more and more every day of my grandpa, who's in heaven now. I do believe the 2 of them would've gotten into a lot of trouble together. It's been a good year this past year, but a challenging and hard year too. Ben has now been in speech therapy for a year. He has come leaps and bounds this past year and is doing wonderfully! I would say, as a family, we can understand about 90% of what he says now, as opposed to about 10% last year. He has gone from not having many words to now having so much to say we have to remind him to slow down, concentrate and say the words he knows. We are so thankful for his therapist and especially thankful the Lord led us to the place we take Ben.  Ben has also become way more interested in coloring, painting, cutting a...

She's TWO!!!!

Image
Rebekah is 2! Life is just zooming on by! I remember feeling as big as a house 2 years ago. Ben and I dropped Cora off at vacation Bible school and then went shopping for some shoes for him. I was having contractions in the store but dismissed them as I had been having them for weeks now. I was 39 weeks that day. We got home, I decided I ought to sit down and drink some water so we could get on with our day. I quickly realized that any plans we had for that day were to be thrown out the window because the baby was coming! We got to the hospital parking lot at 2:00 p.m. and Rebekah was born at 4:06 p.m. Yep. She was ready, and she was coming whether we were or not! And, such has been our baby girl ever since. Rebekah is our fearless child, our child with a HUGE personality. She has a mind of her own and even at this young age knows WHAT she wants, WHEN she wants it (now) and usually knows HOW to get it. She has been a challenge. We know God has something great in store for her becaus...

Our 6 Year Old

Image
Cora celebrated her 6th birthday at the end of March. Normally, we've just done 1 big (crazy) party with her friends and all of the family, but this year we decided to split it up. I must say, though it was 2 different parties, I found it much easier and less-stressful! She wanted a My Little Pony theme this year, specifically Rainbow Dash! It was so fun (and easy) to decorate the house in rainbow colors! My favorite was the crepe paper & balloons rainbow we made in our archway between the living and dining rooms. She had her friend party on her actual birthday & then we had the family the next day. She requested tacos for her birthday supper (which is a really fun, colored-filled meal so went great with the whole rainbow theme!) and chocolate cake! I had fun decorating the cake and she had a wild and crazy time with her friends (most of whom were her cousins!). The following day we were more low-key and simply had cupcakes for the family to share. Plus, all the decorating ...
